Seliroko was founded in response to an urgent problem: in climate-vulnerable communities across Kenya, children were missing school because their schools had no water. While droughts grew longer and more frequent, the schools most affected had no reliable water supply and no plan to keep children learning through dry seasons.

Recognising this gap, Seliroko was established to address the root cause of climate-driven school disruption — water. From its early activities, Seliroko focused on delivering water to schols and educating children on climate change.

Our journey has been shaped by close engagement with communities. Listening to school leaders, parents, and young people has guided our approach. Every intervention reflects local water challenges and builds lasting capacity within the community. Seliroko continues to grow as a platform for keeping children in school, equipping young people with practical climate knowledge, and strengthening community resilience against extreme heat.
